Silverplait Socks! (More like Copperplate?)

I’m a big fan of the Ariel Altara’s pattern for Silverplait Socks – I’ve knitted a few pairs of these cabled beauties and they always turn out great!  I’ve gotten a lot of great feedback on the last pair of Silverplait Socks I made out of pretty pink glimmer yarn.  This time I decided to choose a jewel toned yarn and it gives the socks a whole different vibe.

Silverplait Socks

This copper yarn is from Black Sheep Dye Works in Ludlow, Vermont.  I always try to buy some local yarn on vacation but I didn’t make it to a yarn shop on this trip, so I cheated and ordered it on Etsy!)

Silverplait is cuff down with a standard heel flap, but I made these for a petite friend with tiny feet so I swapped out the heel style with a short row heel (the Fish Lips Kiss Heel method), which is a little more snug on small feet.  No other pattern modifications, but I did knit them without a cable needle which saves a ton of time.

notes

Random note about the photo in this post… I couldn’t photograph these with sock blockers because the beautiful cable across the front would have been folded in half but the socks were too small to model on my own feet so I had to bust out my prop feet that look like they are standing on their tip toes.

Also, just for fun… this is a behind-the-scenes look at a sock photoshoot:
