Inspiring Knitters to Create Beautiful Things

So, you’ve stumbled upon my knitting blog, eh? Welcome!  I learned how to knit when I was a kid but I picked it up seriously in college.  Believe it or not, knitting started out as a dieting technique! It was a way to keep my hands busy and out of the chip bowl while I was chilling with my roomies every night.  I never imagined it would become such a serious hobby that has defined so much of my identity in my adult life.

I started this blog in 2007 as a way to save photos and take notes as I worked on knitting projects (this was back before you could just do that on Ravelry!) I still use it to share my finished projects and I like to throw out some knitting tips and recommendations while I’m at it.

I’m not an instructor and I’m not in the “industry” as a designer or dyer or anything, you can just think of me as your friend who knits. In you’re on Ravelry or Instagram, look me up and don’t be shy about shooting me a DM – I’d love to connect! (I’m Peps on Ravelry and @bombardgirl on the ‘gram).

  • If you’re looking for some inspiration for knitting projects, check out my gallery of finished knits. I especially love to knit socks and clothes for my American Girl Doll. I also like to crochet amigurumi from time to time. I don’t have any kids, but I love to gift knitted baby blankets to my dearest friends.
  • I love to knit with Knit Picks yarn because it’s so affordable, but I also like to support indie dyers – I especially love hand dyed sock yarn. I like to browse Etsy to find new dyers, but then I usually give them a quick google to see if they have their own standalone store so I can help them avoid some of those fees. I love small batch yarn by Global Backyard, You Knit I Dye, and Craftily Dyed Yarn.
  • You can see a ton of recommendations for my favorite knitting supplies here.
  • Some of my favorite designers are Cookie A and verybusymonkey for sock patterns and I love to make amigurumi designed by Stacey Trock. I love to read Knitty to find new free patterns and Craftsy is my go-to source for learning new knitting techniques.
  • I’m a proud supporter of Knit the Rainbow, a nonprofit that collects handknit garments and distributes them to homeless LGBTQ youth.
  • I do all my photography on my iPhone and I edit my pictures in Lightroom. People always ask me about my collection of cute sock blockers in my flatlays. A lot of them are so old that the makers don’t sell them anymore, but I’m currently obsessed with MlynJedrow‘s beautiful wooden sock blockers.

When I’m not knitting (or photographing my knitting), I love to drink wine and cuddle with my cats at our home in Boston, MA. (I like to cuddle with my hubby too… gotta mention him!) I love my day job working in fundraising operations at BUILD.org and I’m a board member at the Honors College at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
