Can I Get Sprinkles On My Latte?

Heads up! This post contains affiliate links which means I get may get a commission if you purchase something based on my recommendations here.

These socks aren’t finished, but I couldn’t wait to show off how cute they are, so they get a WIP post! The pattern is Vanilla Latte and the yarn is Craftily Dyed Yarn in Nebula, which comes in and out of stock in their shop on Etsy, so keep an eye out for it.

First, I love this yarn!  This is the second skein I have purchased from Lauren and she really does an incredible job with speckles!  (The first skein I bought was a rainbow speckle pattern that I used in my Prairie Spring Socks and I made some Footie Socks with the leftovers.)  I love splurging on hand-dyed yarn every once in a while. It’s always a treat to knit with!

Second, I’m really surprised that this pattern has a clarity rating of 4.8 on Ravelry.  I’ve been okay with it because I’m a veteran sock knitter, but I can imagine that a beginner would have a hard time following the instructions.  (It’s really more of a “recipe” than a pattern).  That said, there are almost 15K projects on Ravelry using this pattern, so apparently people are managing just fine with it! One recommendation I would make for this pattern is to shift the stitches on the foot so they are centered.  Again, it’s weird to me that this was not part of the pattern… unless I read it wrong?

At the end of the day, I’m pleased with how these socks are turning out.  The pattern isn’t too busy and it lets the yarn do the talking, which is exactly what I was looking for.  I started with 64 stitches, but for some reason I decided to use size 1 needles instead of my usual 1.5, so I think they are going to be a bit tight.  But I’ll manage. Worst-case scenario, I can block them to stretch them out a bit.

Here’s another pic, just ‘cuz.

P.S. If you love these heart sock blockers as much as I do, you should look for some on etsy.  As I’m writing this post, it doesn’t look like these exact ones are available, but there are many other cute ones out there.  I got this pair from Yarn Stories, so perhaps they are back in stock by the time you read this.
