Shades of Green

Heads up! This post contains affiliate links which means I get may get a commission if you purchase something based on my recommendations here.

I’m getting all sort of emails from Knit Picks promoting their annual Green Yarn Sale so I thought I’d write this post sharing some of my favorite green projects with you as inspiration!

Sheldon the Turtle

Knitted Turtle

This little guy first introduced me to Knit Picks back in 2007 when the pattern first appeared in Knitty.  At that point I always substituted the pattern yarn for the bigger-brand acrylic yarns at Joann because that’s all I could afford.  This was the first time I saw a pattern recommending a line of beautiful yarn that I could actually afford – huzzah!  I ordered some of the Shine Sport for this guy and have been hooked on Knit Picks ever since.

Treasured Baby Blanket

Green Baby Blanket

This baby blanket is the first time I tried Comfy, which is a blend of acrylic and cotton.  I am SO glad I gave this yarn a try because it is 100% my go-to yarn for baby blankets now.  This particular blanket became my niece’s Official Blankie that she has been toting around for 6 years now and it’s still going strong.  It’s been washed hundreds of times and the color hasn’t faded, it hasn’t pilled, and it’s still super soft.

Down the Hourglass Socks

Down the Hourglass

Of course, I could post a million examples of green socks, but I’ll stick to this gorgeous pair made out of Stroll Tonal.  I absolutely love the subtle color variations in this colorway – they add interest to the sock but don’t distract from the elaborate stitch pattern I chose.  (Runner up for a favorite pair of green socks would be these guys, made out of a one of the heathered Stroll colorways).

Gwen

Last but not least is this awesome American Girl Doll sweater that I made with Palette.  I would be remiss not to mention Palette in a post about green yarn because it comes in 24 shades of green!  (No joke! Go count them!)  Once upon a time, I picked up a value pack of a bunch of different colors of Palette and it was perfect to have in my stash to pull out when I needed bits of color in projects.  This sweater marks when I finally used up the last of it… time to buy more!
