Comfy Bounce Baby Blanket With Cowboy Colored Stripes

Another baby blanket is done! I made this one for a dear friend who is expecting this summer.  I asked her early in her pregnancy what the nursery theme would be and she wasn’t sure but when I pressed her, she said “boho cowboy.” Well, I had no idea what that meant, so I decided I’d pick out a bunch of colors that remind me of cowboys and maybe one of them would match the nursery.

Striped Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern

I had tons of fun picking out all these colors of Comfy yarn on the Knit Picks website.  Fun fact: if you click on a color of yarn on the site it opens in a kind of pop-up window and you can open multiple colors at once and drag them around the page to see how they look together.  Like this:

Matching Colors of Yarn

Pretty cool, huh?  This pattern is called Bounce by Tin Can Knits and it was super easy to knit.  I followed the chart while I knitted but probably could have memorized the lace pattern if I had tried. I made the crib size and it came out to be 53” tall, which is huge, but it still worked up pretty quickly.  Here is a close-up picture of the lacey parts:

Whenever I changed colors I wove in both ends while I worked so I didn’t have too much clean up at the end, which was nice.  I have never woven in two ends at once – I was worried it would be super bulky but it wasn’t bad at all.  I followed the instructions on this really old knitting website to weave in ends while I work.  The instructions have you weave in the yarn tail every other stitch when you are weaving in one end, so to weave both colors at the same time, I just alternated one color on one stitch and the other color on the following stitch.  It was slightly fiddly but it beats the alternative.
