I have a serious WIP situation going on right now… and… I just made it worse by casting on a new pair of socks last night… oops! Here is a little rundown of a few projects I’m working on.
Big Bad Baby Martinez
On the left is a Big Bad Baby Blanket knit up in Knit Picks Comfy Color Mist yarn, which I’m absolutely loving! I’m nearly finished with the center panel of this one and then I’ll just need to add the top portion of the seed stitch border. This is for my pal’s grandson due in November, so I really need to get cranking on this one.
Planet of the Monkeys
Next over is the pair of socks I started yesterday. According to Ravelry, this is my 8th pair of Monkey Socks! WOW! Think I like this pattern? The yarn is by You Knit I Dye, it’s called Earthling, so, naturally, I’m calling these socks Planet of the Monkeys.
I’m testing out my new Hiya Hiya 4” dpns on this pair. I have been looking for a pair of 5” lightweight metal dpns but they are very hard to find in that length! Four inch dpns are pretty hard to find too, but I managed to score this set on Amazon. It’s a little awkward knitting with such small needles, but I’m giving it a shot. Currently, whenever I need the pointy tips of metal needles for socks, I have to do it magic loop with nickel-plated circulars, which is fine, but I like dpns so I wanted to give it them a try. (I’ve tried the 6” metal dpns but they are way too crazy to knit with a 5-needle set-up, which is my preferred style).
Antarktis Shawl
Next is a super fun shawl that I’m making out of Knit Picks Stroll Glimmer in Ruby. I’m trying to get a few more shawls in my wardrobe this winter because I wear them a lot on zoom calls and people are starting to notice that I am always wearing the same ones. lol. I LOVE the yarn. I’m a bit lukewarm on the pattern. It has good reviews on Ravelry, but it’s looking kind of plain to me so far – maybe it’s all the garter stitch? I’m sure it will be lovely when it is finished though. I’d hate to waste this yarn – especially since I worry it might be discontinued…?
Goldilocks Socks
Last up is a pair of Nine to Five Socks in regular Knit Picks Stroll in the Treasure colorway. This golden-brown color isn’t for everyone, but I’m really digging it. If you are a super keen observer, you’d say that I’m knitting these on 6” metal dpns, which I just said I don’t like. The answer is: yes, I am. Honestly, I paid a lot of money for those fancy carbon needles so I still use them even though I don’t like them… lol. They aren’t that bad if you knit on a 4-needle set up instead of 5. That’s what I’m doing here.
I wish I could say this is all the WIPs I have going on right now… but… there are more! This just happens to be the batch I grabbed for a this little photo shoot. What are you knitting right now?
p.s. Just for funsies… this is a pin I sell in my etsy shop. Too many WIPS indeed!
