Business Casual Socks

Heads up! This post contains affiliate links which means I get may get a commission if you purchase something based on my recommendations here.

I’m a big fan of this pattern, which is a free download from Tanis Fiber Arts and super fun to knit.  It requires just the right amount of concentration that you can watch TV while you knit, but still have a satisfying challenge.

Do not mess with a cable needle on these socks though or you’ll go mad!  If you don’t know how to cable without a needle, today is the day to learn!  I recommend taking Bavarian Twisted Stitches or Explorations in Cables on Bluprint.  I have a monthly subscription to Bluprint that costs about $7 a month because I love to take tons of classes, but you can also buy lifetime access to a single class for under $20 if you really just want to learn one thing and be able to refer back to it often.

Back to the socks – I used Lorna’s Laces Solemate yarn which has a Rayon fiber in it called Outlast that moderates temperature – I’ve noticed a difference in socks made with this yarn that my feet don’t get sweaty in them if it’s a little warmer in the house.  Speaking on Bluprint, I got a couple of skeins of Solemate for $14 a pop during a 50% off sale there, which is not an uncommon occurrence. You should sign up with them so you can get their newsletter to be notified of sales and then stock up!
