Tweed Simple Skyp Socks

I got the nicest phone call from my Uncle Jeff a couple of weeks ago letting me know how much he loved the pair of socks I made for him.  He said they are the only pair of socks he wears because all of his store-bought socks feel too tight at the cuff and he had practically worn holes through them.  Of course I can’t let my Uncle be out there with cold feet, so I set to work making him another pair.

I think this is actually the fastest I have ever knit a pair of socks.  These are knit on size 2 needles and I did magic loop on pointy nickle-plated circs and the knitting just flew right off.  Plus, you know, I had those cold feet back in Utah to motivate me.  It also helps that this pattern is super easy to memorize.  It’s basically just ribbing but it has a special slipped stitch every other row that gives the ribbing a little more interest.  Here’s a close up:
