I cast on today for the “Big Bad Baby Blanket” from Stitch ‘n Bitch, but mine is going to be called the “Little Sweet Baby Blanket” because I’m making it for a little sweet baby! ๐ She’s due in July, so I’ve gotta do some marathon knitting on this one.
I’m happy because I finally found a project for my Bernat Denim Style yarn — I loved that yarn when I bought it, but I’ve never quite found anything to do with it. Interestingly, the pattern calls for a hand-painted 100% wool fingering yarn. And in the instructions she says not to sacrifice easy care over beauty. But honestly, what kind of idiot would knit a baby blanket out of fine wool? Maybe if you were just knitting it to be something pretty to throw over a chair or something, but in the real world babies puke on everything and blankets need to go in the washer.
I think this is going to turn out really cute! I’m slipping the first and last stitches on all the right side rows so I can get a nice round edge – I hope it looks nice.
Thank you…babies don’t appreciate fine wool or cahmere and busy new mommies don’t have time to hand wash a big ol’ blanket. Babies need machine washable.
