So, I started knitting some deep red socks for the daughter of a good friend who is entering her first year of college at McGill. Sadly, I had some issues with the yarn, but I worked with the manufacturer to get it replaced, so all ended well… but, in the midst of the drama, I decided that it was actually a terrible idea to give a college freshman a pair of deep red socks that could completely destroy her entire load of laundry if they weren’t washed properly. So, now instead of pure red socks, she is getting faded red socks (a.k.a. pink).
I originally picked Turmeric by verybusymonkey for her socks, but I’ve already knitted Turmeric in this same pink yarn, so I switched to another favorite v.b.m. pattern, Little Leafy Socks.

Materials & Items in my Photos
- U.S. Size 1.5 (2.5mm) ChiaGoo 24” circular needles (I’m still a bit on the fence about whether I like the 24” length for magic loop socks or if I want to go up to 32”. I wish there was an option in between!)
- Knitting action pic features Lily & Fox nail wraps in Aqua Sparkles…. that was pretty much the last day of that mani, which is why they look a little trashed. But it’s still a cute design!!
- My slightly-too-short heart & floral sock blocker is by MlynJedrow on Etsy (she makes lots of sizes, but I unwisely grabbed a size small when staging this pic).
Here is a knitting action video too! I’m an English-style knitter, which means I hold the yarn in my right hand and “throw” it over the needle. Kind of cool.
A little WIP video for #ShowMeYourKnits! Fellow English-style knitters: raise your hands! 🙌🧶💕

Notes & Such
- Kind of unrelated, but if you’re curious about how I take the knitting action pics and videos from my POV… I’ll confess that I own a neck-mount phone tripod! It looks ridiculous, but it’s much easier than trying to balance the phone in your neckband. (IYKYK)
