I was in the mood to knit a sweater to add to Athena’s wardrobe, so I hit up Qute, the Etsy shop of my favorite designer of American Girl doll knitting patterns. I picked out the Penelope cardigan, which is a little different than what I might normally pick, but I have been watching a lot of Bridgerton lately and I think the name of the pattern influenced my choice…

Materials & Items in my Photos
- U.S. size 1.5 (2.5mm) circular needles (I’m using my purple-cable nickel-plated fixed circs from Knit Picks, but they’ve been discontinued, womp womp) and my Karbonz DPN needles for the sleeves.
- Purple Stitch Saver Cord (look for a big spool of it on Amazon or your craft store, usually called barber cord or just “2mm Rubber Tubing”; it’s also sold at yarn stores under the brand name Purl Strings.)
- I’m new to the world of wearing reading glasses and I was wearing the drugstore kind low on my nose so I could look down and see my knitting but look up and see the TV. I looked pretty silly so I invested in these progressive readers from Peepers and I really like them for knitting. Plus, they are teal to match Athena’s glasses!
Notes & Such
- In retrospect, putting the sleeve stitches on the 2mm stitch saver cord was a bad idea… I’ve never tried using on a project with small diameter needles and they were very hard to get on and off the cord. Next time, I’ll just use scrap yarn.
