Not gonna lie… this is the third time I’ve started crocheting the Owl Obsession blanket since it came out in 2012. I like crocheting amigurumi, but I’ve really never crocheted much else. This pattern is so cute and I have a nice stash of Chroma yarn, so I’m gonna give it one more try!

Project Details
Pattern: Owl Obsession by Marken of The Hat & I (purchase on Ravelry or Etsy)
Yarn: Knit Picks Chroma Worsted in Carnival and White (Probably gonna be playing a bit of yarn chicken… wish me luck!) — the Carnival colorway has been discontinued, but I think this blanket would be soooo cute in the Clown Wig colorway in the current lineup).
Materials & Items in my Photos
- Using my favorite aluminum crochet hook by HiyaHiya – it’s a 6.0 mm hook; U.S. size J.
- You’ll see I’m using bobby pins as stitch markers at each corner on the final octagons. Someone on Ravelry recommended marking those stitches to help make assembly easier. (I swear I own split ring stitch markers, just not enough to put 8 on each finished motif!)
Notes & Such
- [7/18/26] Three owls have faces. All four circle motifs have borders. Getting there!
- [7/1/26] All nine borders of the owl motifs are complete…. 🙂
- [5/10/26] I finished all the centers of the owls and colorful circle motifs, except I messed up the stitch count on two of the owls and have to redo them; I’ve done the white octagon finish on three of the owls.
- [4/18/26] I’m four owls in, which is the furthest I’ve gotten!
