I loved the way my last two pairs of Felicini socks turned out with the contrasting cuff, heel, and toe, but, man, was it hard to locate matching yarn! I totally lucked out on the first two pairs and had matching Stroll colors in my stash, but the colors in this ball of Lemon Bar Felicini were very stubborn and refused to work with anything in my stash, nor with any currently available Stroll color.
I finally found a close-enough match to the pale yellow in the Mighty Stitch line. It’s is 80% acrylic, which is not something I’d ordinarily pick for socks, but since it’s only those contrasting parts, I think it will be fine.
I’m knitting these for my mom because her favorite color is yellow. 💛
Project Details
Pattern: It’s just a vanilla sock, and I’ll do a forethought heel.
Yarn: Knit Picks Felicini in Lemon Bar (discontinued) and Knit Picks Mighty Stitch Fingering in Custard; this is my last ball of Felicini, which was a one-time only release in 2024. I’ve liked the tiny stripes, but finding the contrasting colors has been a chore, so I’m not going to miss it too much.
Materials & Items in my Photos
- U.S. Size 1.5 (2.5 mm) circular needles (these are Addi Turbo Rockets) I believe these are 36” needles, and that’s really too long for one-at-a-time socks, but it’s the only needle I had available. It still works; the long cable is just a bit fiddly. I knitted the cuff a size up in 2.75 mm needles because I’m doing a smaller stitch count than usual and I got a little paranoid..
Notes & Such
- June 2026 Update: I’m very likely going to frog these. I’m just not happy with the slightly off match between the solid yellow and the yellow in the Felici…
- The last two Felicini socks I made, I knitted them on U.S. Size 1 (2.25 mm) needles and started with 64 stitches. I decided to knit these on the 2.5 mm needles, hoping they’ll knit up a bit faster, but I liked the snug fit of the others, so I reduced the stitch count to 60. (I knitted the cuff on larger needles to give it a bit more room on the calves.) We’ll see how this works out…
