Heads up! This post contains affiliate links which means I get may get a commission if you purchase something based on my recommendations here. (It’s an awesome way to support this blog!)
I picked up this sock yarn at Weird Sisters Yarn Shop in Portland, Oregon last year as a souvenir from my (much belated) honeymoon. I always like to get some locally dyed yarn on vacation when I can. This speckled blue colorway is called Calm Before the Storm by Teal Torch Knits and the socks I’m knitting are my go-to lace socks pattern: Monkey by Cookie A. I’ve knitted a zillion of these, but this is the first time I’ve done them on 2.25 mm needles, so I’m excited to see how that works out.
These socks are finished and you can check out the full post here.

Pattern: Monkey by Cookie A (Knitty Version) I’ve written a blog post covering a few different ways to knit these socks here.
Yarn: Teal Torch Knits Sock in Calm Before the Storm
Materials & Stuff From the Photos:
- U.S. Size 1 (2.25mm) 24” circular needles (ChiaoGoo Red Lace)
- Ceramic Yarn Bowl by New Moon Ceramics
- Clover small point-protectors
- Lily & Fox nail wraps – they retired the kitty pattern, but have lots of other kitty designs to choose from; the holographic wraps that I layered over the blue polish are still in stock.
- Pretty Sock Blockers: the darker wood heart sock blockers aren’t made anymore, but the lighter-colored wood heart & floral motif sock blockers are by MlynJedrow on Etsy, and she makes the all-heart design too, only in the lighter colored wood.
