Happy Valentine’s Day, Friends!! I knitted these adorable stripey Valentine’s Day socks to celebrate the holiday this year and I took some fun photos along the way, so thought I’d write up a quick post to share the love.
These are knitted up in Knit Picks Felici in their S.W.A.K. colorway from the Fall 2024 collection. I really love the simple three-color high-contrast stripe sequence on this colorway and I hope they might bring it back some day, but alas, that is not how Felici works!
They have another Valentiney colorway in the Fall 2025 lineup that is still available (as of February 2026) called Popular, which is a fun little nod to Wicked. Popular is a five-color sequence that is a bit more of a gradient. Personally, I like the colorways with really distinct color changes for my socks, but I am tempted to snag the sister color to Popular: a green gradient called Gravity. But the thing about Felici is that you can’t hesitate to buy it, because they are all limited editions and sell out at unpredictable rates. I call it Felici FOMO™, and I have a massive collection of this yarn as a result….
Anyway, back to my socks. This is my go-to pattern for self-striping yarn. It’s not really a pattern as much as it is a method of construction that I know as the Sock Surgeon’s Afterthought Heel. And here is fab photo of me crossing the finish line a few days ago with my adorable heart mani and a little heart-shaped progress marker for good measure. The nail wraps are by Lily & Fox, and that’s another buy-it-before-it’s-gone shopping scenario, as wraps go in and out of stock pretty unpredictably. They are only $2.99 a set, though, so you can afford to stockpile.
Side note: People occasionally ask me how I take these POV knitting selfies with both hands in the frame. So, it’s a bit embarrassing to admit, but I own fairly ridiculous-looking neck tripod so I can take hands-free photos. That, plus the shutter timer on my phone, gets the job done.
Well, I promised you a quick post and this wasn’t really that. But, I’m too lazy to go back up and edit my intro paragraph. It’s a “you get what you get” kind of day on the blog.
