Skywalker Strikes Back

I knitted my first Skywalker shawl four years ago as a project for Laura Nelkin’s Mastering Lace Shawls class on Craftsy.  Quite honestly, I’ve never really worn it until one day this winter when I was freezing and threw it over my shoulders, then I realized how nice it looked while I was on a zoom call! (True story!)  So, after wearing the shawl in several subsequent meetings, I decided to make a second shawl in a more neutral color.  I recalled this was a pretty quick & simple knit, so I decided to just make a second Skywalker… and, of course I’m calling it Skywalker Strikes Back!

Skywalker Knitted Shawl

The yarn is Knit Picks Stroll Tonal, which is a line I’m really into lately.  You know I get super picky about variegated/tonal yarn, but I think the color shifts here are subtle enough and I love how it turned out.

Just for fun, here is a picture of this shawl on the blocking board.  Can’t say enough how much I recommend investing in a set of lace blocking wires for projects like this!  If you have ever tried to pin out a straight edge on a shawl or scarf, you know how tedious it is and it rarely results in a perfectly straight edge. I was hesitant to buy them because I knew I’d use them so infrequently, but let me tell you, when it comes time to use them, you realize it was completely worth it!
