There’s a reason why Cookie A’s Monkey Sock Pattern is a classic: it’s easy to memorize, the socks turn out beautiful, and there is even a free version of it on Knitty! (It’s also available in her book Knit. Sock. Love., which is absolutely worth buying!) I definitely recommend this pattern for any beginning sock knitter.
I’ve experimented with a few different types of yarn with this pattern and I think this pair is one of my faves. The Hawthorne Tonal hand-painted yarn from Knit Picks is just lovely in the lace, and the yarn has a lot of twist so that definition accentuates the pattern even more.
