I was a little unhappy with the fan shawl that I made for my mother, so I decided to try again with another pattern…. and I’m glad I did! I think this shawl turned out beautifully and it was an easy, fun knit. I would definitely knit one again. (Funny thing is, my mom likes the first one better! lol!)

notes
- The pattern is in French, but it has an English translation under each step.
- The picot bind-off takes forever, but is totally worth the effort.
I was afraid to try this pattern because I was unsure of the size, but I like the size yours turned out. Thanks for posting it, I think I'll brave it.
You should do it! It was a fun knit!
Do you have any suggestions on making it bigger I am at the place where I should start the border but would like the body the garter stitch portion of the shawl larger. But am afraid I will throw the border off if I make the body larger. Any suggestions?
So, you are at the part with 191 stitches: 3 border stitches, 92 stitches, central stitch, 92 stitches, 3 border stitches? You can keep going at this point to make the shawl as large as you like as long as the two segments that are currently 92 stitches end up being an even number when you stop because the lace pattern that is worked in that area for the border is a multiple of two. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your help I have knitted less than a year and the problem far exceeded my experience. Thanks again julia
No problem! Knitting math can be tricky for everyone! I'm very impressed that you are working on this pattern with less than a year of experience since the English directions are so limited! Way to go!!
It is turning out great thanks to you and your help I like my shawls big so I can wrap them around my arms. I'll try to send you a picture when I'm done.
I haven't made a shawl for myself yet, only for others, but I suspect I would like it larger too. 🙂 Can't wait to see a picture!
I can't find the second part of the pattern, just the first part. The English version says it's on November 21, but I can only get November 14 online. Can someone suggest where to find it?
Part 2 is really simple, just repeat these two rows 19 times (till you have 191 stitches).
Row 1: K3, YO, K to marker, M1 K1 M1 Knit to 3st before end, YO, K3
Row 2 : Knit all the st
Hope that helps!
