This is a sweater I started little bit on a whim to use up some leftover yarn. I was originally knitting a Rusted Root, but I wasn’t feeling it, so I decided to look for another pattern. The yolk on this one reminded me of wheat, which vibed with the color of the yarn, so I went for it.

Project Details
Pattern: Raunioiset Sweater by Suvi Lyytikäinen, Wallebeck Wool (knitting size 4 / Large)
Yarn: Knit Picks Woolen Cotton in Shaun Heather (leftover from the Dude Scarf!)
Needles: Size 6 wood Circular Needles from my Sunstruck Set (the interchangeable circular needles worked out really well here so I could change the cable size as the raglan shape grew.

- Purple Stitch Saver Cord & Toggles: get a big spool on Amazon! (mine is the Mauve color)
- Blocking Mats and Small & Large Blocking Comb Pins (my fave!!)
Misc. Notes
- I did the i-cord bind off for the neckline early into the sweater instead of waiting until the end so I could see how it looked in an early fit-check.
- I went rogue at the hem and did a split hem based loosely on what I did in my Derecho sweater, but instead of garter stitch, I did some stockinette and finished with an i-cord bind to match the neckline and sleeves. I am not sure this is going to work out, with regard to whether it will stay flat or roll, so I’m not going to weave in the ends after I block and maybe even a first wear to see what happens. It’s entirely possible I’ll have to rip it out…
- Update on my note above… the shape of the hem turned out okay after bocking and didn’t roll wildly after a test-wearing, but I was a little messy with my short rows and some of the picked up stitches when I shaped the split hem, and I’m just not happy with it, so I ripped it out and will reknit. I’m just going to go with a standard hem on pass two. The split hem was okay, but not life-changing.
