A close-up of a sock in progress knit from Knit Picks Felici yarn in the Lisa colorway, with bright stripes of teal, green, yellow, tan, pink, and purple. The sock is on circular needles and being held in one hand with a cool diagonal stripe of red glitter on the thumbnail.

Lisa Frank Socks

Heads up! This post contains affiliate links which means I get may get a commission if you purchase something based on my recommendations here. (It’s an awesome way to support this blog!)

When I saw the “Lisa” colorway in the Knit Picks’ 2025 Felici collection, I knew it must be mine! Truth me told, I was always a Sanrio girl growing up, and whenever I added a little Lisa Frank gear to my collection, it felt a little like cheating on Hello Kitty. But I’m over that now… I need that neon rainbow energy in my life! (Don’t we all?)

If you’re not familiar with Felici, it’s a really popular self-striping sock yarn by Knit Picks. All the colorways are limited edition and they drop new collections every year or so. I bring that up because, if you like my Lisa yarn… too bad. It’s gone. (But you can always try eBay!)

Project Details

Pattern: Sock Surgeon’s Afterthought Heel, which isn’t so much a pattern as it is a technique for inserting an afterthought heel. (I’ve knitted zillions of them and posted here on the blog under the tag Sock Surgeon’s Afterthought Heel.) This time I did a 60 stitch CO instead of my usual 64.

Yarn: Knit Picks Felici in Lisa

Materials & Items in my Photos
  • U.S. 1.5 (2.5mm) circular needles. I’m knitting these on my trusty 24” Chiagoo Red Lace needles that I really wish were 32” needles, but I’m always too cheap to buy more.
  • In the pic of me knitting on the train, I’m wearing Lily & Fox nail wraps in Love Spark, which is one of my favorite designs. Much like Felici, Lily & Fox wraps go in and out of stock quite randomly. So if you like a design, you have to buy it immediately.
Notes & Such
  • There’s a picture in the gallery where I had two socks started at the same time. There is a reason why I did that… it’s a long story, but I was problem-solving while on an airplane… anyway, I frogged the second sock when I got home. I don’t know what I was thinking by starting it just one stripe off from the other one. IT looked so weird.
