One of my nieces lost her blankie so I jumped into action to knit her something new to snuggle with. I had to act fast so I assessed my stash of Comfy (best baby blanket yarn ever!) and realized I had enough to pull this off without having to order more and wait for shipping, so yay!
I didn’t know how big I was going to make the blanket, so I decided to do a corner-to-corner method so I could decide how large to make it at the mid-way point instead of figuring it out before casting on. It ended up being about 32” square which is a pretty decent size.
I saw a picture of this blanket on Pinterest that inspired me when I was browsing for corner-to-corner patterns. I didn’t really follow the pattern, just used the picture, but it’s a free pattern so worth checking out!
I knitted this on size 9 needles that were really too big for this yarn, so the gauge is pretty loosey-goosey. (We’ll just say it’s got great drape!) After I blocked it, I wasn’t happy with the the way the edges looked so unfinished so I added the blue garter stitch border and I love how it turned out! Here is a pic of the blanket without the border. You can also see that the shape was a bit off due to the loose gauge interacting with the corner-to-corner construction, and the the border fixed that too. Double win!
