These socks were one of those projects which you really hate but you keep knitting it anyway. You know that feeling? Anyway, it turned out that a week before Christmas my mom saw them and loved them. Alas, the poor, ugly, sassy socks found their purpose in life: to be my mom’s Christmas present.

Did you follow the pattern to the letter? Specifically, after dividing for the heel, did you cut the yarn? I can’t for the life of me figure out why you would cut it…I knit a pair of these a few years ago- not the best fitting socks in the world. I would use the yarn again, but only to do boot socks for my son (and maybe for me). I would just use a generic sock pattern and tweak it to my feet.

Yeah, I broke the yarn like it said. I think the general idea was to make sure the stripe pattern would be continued along the gusset and the top of the sock, but the stripes are so random looking anyway, it probably wasn’t necessary. In hindsight, I should have tweaked it – since you’re right, it’s mostly a terrible generic pattern!
